The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max) novel Chapter 632

Max reached out and took Felicia’s hand. “Kids get upset fast, but they cheer up just as quickly. You really don’t have to worry.”

Felicia glanced over at him, quiet and thoughtful.

At that moment, a young couple arrived with their child, stopping to greet Max.

Without thinking, Max slipped his arm around Felicia’s waist as he introduced her. Felicia responded with a friendly smile, nodding politely at their guests.

To everyone watching, they looked like the perfect, loving couple.

The little boy handed Anne a small gift. She accepted it with both hands and thanked him so sweetly. A maid nearby took the present and set it aside.

Anne stood poised and confident, calm in front of all the well-dressed strangers. She just seemed to shine. No one could help but praise her—such a smart, talented, pretty little girl.

“Mr. Hawthorne’s daughter is destined for great things!”

Anne’s whole face lit up at the compliment. “When I grow up, I want to be the best daughter in the world, so Mommy and Daddy can be proud of me.”

Laughter bubbled up around them.

Max gazed at Anne, his pride and love written all over his face.

He turned to Felicia. She was studying their daughter, her eyes full of warmth, her features just soft with that gentle affection. Max looked away, a meaningful smile tugging at his lips.

Felicia stuck by his side while he made conversation with the guests, nowhere to run with all eyes on them.

Then Gavin came over, a glass of wine dangling from his hand. “Evelynn, I never imagined you and Max were already married. And you gave this cold guy such an adorable daughter?”

Max was right there, but Gavin clearly didn’t care. He met Max’s irritated stare, then grinned at Felicia. “Seriously, you are under way too much social pressure. Life is short, Evelynn. Your own happiness matters most.”

“Gavin.” Max cut in, his voice steady but icy.

Gavin arched a brow, unbothered. “If you ever need something, just call me, okay?” he said to Felicia.

“I want Mommy and Daddy to help me.”

“You hold it first,” Max said, waiting.

Anne’s small hands wrapped around the handle. Max glanced at Felicia. With so many people watching, she reached over and set her hand on top of Anne’s.

Max’s big hand slid over both of theirs, covering them completely. The moment his palm brushed Felicia’s fingers, he felt her tense and start to pull away, but Max pressed down gently, leaving her no choice but to stay.

As the first slice was made, applause filled the room.

Lights flickered back on.

Servers moved through, handing out slices of cake.

Outside, fireworks began to erupt, brilliant colors streaking through the night over the castle. For a few short minutes, the sky looked like a living painting, so extravagant it made everything feel magical. The display stretched on, each burst costing a fortune, until the darkness was dusted in a shower of sparkling light.
