The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max) novel Chapter 646

Colt grinned. “Evelynn, you’ve worked hard today. You should get some rest.”

“Thanks,” she replied.

Felicia said goodbye to Jeremy.

Max chatted quietly with Darin.

Soon, Felicia and Max slipped out of the ballroom together.

When they reached the elevator, Max reached for her bag and purse. “Here, let me take those.”

Before Felicia could react, he already had them. She glanced at him, a bit surprised.

The elevator doors slid open.

“Come on,” Max said.

Felicia looked away, not interested in a fuss. She stepped inside. Max followed, silent.

They rode down in the quiet.

Later, in the car on the way home, Max asked her a few things about the event.

Felicia answered, just surface-level work talk.

After that, neither of them said much. The quiet stretched out between them.

Forty minutes later, the Rolls-Royce rolled into the underground garage at Oakridge Estate.

Upstairs, Anne was still jet-lagged from the flight. She’d slept the whole way, and now she was curled up on her bed, playing with a stuffed animal, humming softly to herself.

The door swung open.

Anne looked up. As soon as she spotted her mom, her eyes lit up and she scrambled to her feet. “Mommy!”

Felicia hurried over.

Anne tried to bounce across the mattress, but her foot slipped and she landed with a soft thud.

Felicia reached out without thinking. “Careful, sweetheart.”

Anne quickly got back up and leapt straight into her mother’s arms.

That caught Felicia off guard for just a second. But she recovered quickly, her smile never fading. “Thank you, Anne.”

“You have to thank Daddy, too.”

Felicia ruffled Anne’s hair, setting the little box aside. “I will. Come on, it’s late. Time for bed.”

Anne flopped back onto her pillow, ready to settle down. “Okay.”

That night, Felicia stayed with Anne in her room. Anne had been running around the island every day during their trip, and now she had gotten a little sun-kissed.

For the last couple of days of break, all she wanted was to stay home with Felicia, no more adventures, just quiet time together.

Anne insisted Felicia wear the bracelet. Felicia slipped it on without protest.

“Daddy, look!” Anne called out. “Doesn’t Mommy look so pretty wearing it?”

Max came down the stairs to join them. He wore soft, comfy clothes and his normally neat, businesslike look was gone, replaced with something gentler. The way he carried himself felt warmer, more relaxed.

He glanced at Felicia’s wrist, smiling. “She looks beautiful.”

Anne looked to her mother. “Mommy, when’s your birthday?”
