Olisha looked at the man with a pair of expectant amber eyes.
Max glanced up at the mother and daughter coming down the stairs. He then reached out and took the coffee cup. He took a small sip, finding the coffee rich and fragrant.
"Daddy."
Anne called out and ran toward her father.
Max set the coffee down.
Olisha turned around and looked at Felicia. She offered a soft, angelic smile and greeted her with natural familiarity. "Good morning, Evelynn."
Felicia stared back at Olisha.
Olisha walked up to Felicia, reached out, and held her hand. Her gratitude was completely undisguised. "Thank you, Evelynn, for sending me here to stay."
Felicia could not help but frown.
Looking into the girl's pure, innocent eyes, Felicia saw a joy so simple it resembled a child getting their favorite dessert. She could not detect a single trace of calculation, greed, or deceit.
For a fleeting second, Felicia almost believed the girl was telling the absolute truth.
She froze for a few seconds.
Felicia gently pulled her hand back and cast a look at the man sitting on the sofa. Max took Anne's hand and stood up. When his eyes met Felicia's, his dark gaze was as calm and profound as ever. His tone remained perfectly even. "Let's go get breakfast first."
In the dining room.
Olisha did not join them for breakfast.
Anne turned to Felicia and whispered. "Olisha is so pretty. She really looks like a princess."
Anne's tone was full of genuine awe at Olisha's beauty.
Obviously, Olisha had been at Oakridge Estate since yesterday, before Max and Anne even returned. Anne had already interacted with her and clearly did not find her annoying.
