Later that afternoon.
Felicia received a call from Anne. "Mommy, will you come with Daddy and me to have dinner at Grandma and Grandpa's house tonight?"
"I won’t be able to make it," Felicia replied gently. "I still have to work. Are you going to sleep over at Grandma's house tonight?"
"Yes, I am staying over," Anne confirmed.
"Alright, have fun then!" Felicia told her.
Sounding disappointed, Anne said, "But Mommy, are we not a family? You have never been to Grandma and Grandpa's house for dinner. I am going to talk to them today and ask them to invite you over next time."
Hearing her daughter's innocent words, Felicia did not know what to say, merely giving a soft hum of agreement.
After work that evening, Felicia received a call from Caroline.
"Are you free tonight, Felicia? Would you like to grab dinner together?"
Caroline had asked her out twice before, but she had genuinely been too busy and had to decline. Since she did not have to work overtime tonight, she readily agreed.
Inside a luxurious five star hotel restaurant, Caroline poured Felicia a glass of red wine. "I finally managed to book you for dinner. You really are busy, completely unlike a lady of leisure such as myself."
Felicia picked up her wine glass, gently swirling the crimson liquid. "Having free time is actually quite nice."
A faint, bitter smile tugged at the corners of Caroline's lips, but she quickly hid it away. The two settled into casual conversation.
"When I first met you, I honestly never imagined you were the wife of the CEO of BlueMarble Investments," Caroline sighed in amazement.
Felicia used to have a heavy figure, carrying a massive pregnant belly, and suffering from pregnancy induced melasma on her face. No one looking at her would have ever connected her to Max, a man of such unparalleled, devastating handsome looks.
