The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 1064

“Niki, go find Aunt Kirsten. Mommy just needs to talk to him for a minute, and I’ll be right up.”

Niki glanced from Alexander to Danielle, then nodded obediently and ran into the building. Only when Niki’s figure had disappeared did Danielle turn her cold gaze to Alexander. “What is it now?”

Alexander pushed open the car door and walked up to her, his voice low. “A leopard can’t change its spots. You shouldn’t be so naive and trust people so easily.”

Danielle’s brow furrowed. “Alexander, who I associate with and who I choose to trust is my business. It has nothing to do with you. And why are you here? Are you stalking me?” The memory of being followed before made the anxiety creep back into her heart. Had Alexander been secretly watching her all this time?

Alexander’s jaw tightened. “I didn’t come here to fight with you.”

Danielle closed her eyes for a moment. “When I wanted to talk, you refused. Now, we have nothing to talk about.” She looked at him. “Even if we could have a calm conversation, do you really think there’s any trust between us?”

Trust was their greatest failing. A relationship without trust, filled with secrets and suspicion, is doomed. At this point, they could barely even be friends. “I think we can,” Alexander said. “At the very least, you can trust me completely. I would never hurt you.”

Danielle almost laughed. Hadn’t he hurt her and their daughter enough already?

“I know you’re with Gian, and that you had a child, though you lost it,” Alexander said.

“You’ve never once explained these ‘important matters’ to me. Why on earth should I listen to you?”

Of course, Danielle knew that Harold wasn’t a man to be trusted one hundred percent. Their interactions were always colored by ulterior motives and self-interest. But sometimes, you had to walk into the lion’s den to get what you wanted. Even if Harold was a bad person, even if he was plotting something, her avoiding him wouldn’t stop him. In fact, it would only make her more vulnerable. It was better to smile and face him head-on, ready to counter whatever he threw at her.

“All this drama and intrigue surrounding me… it’s all because of you, isn’t it?”

Alexander’s eyes were dark, his gaze intense as he stared at her. He shook his head. “Ignorance will get you and your daughter hurt.”
