The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 1103

He didn’t need much confirmation.

Danielle’s refusal to play along and meet his family was proof enough. She resisted the idea of being with him, even in pretense.

From the very beginning, he and Danielle had only ever been friends and business partners. Perhaps a relationship like that was the most stable and enduring one they could have.

As for Danielle and Alexander, the feelings buried deep in their hearts, the lost time and misunderstandings—perhaps, as he had once said, they had never truly been extinguished.

He just wondered how long it would take them to finally face their own hearts, to overcome the obstacles between them and find their way back to each other.

Gian started the car and slowly drove away from the conference hall.

Maybe, he thought, he really should start seriously considering his family’s arrangements. Instead of dragging things out, it might be better to find a suitable person and settle down.

Meanwhile, Danielle sat in Alexander’s car, the cabin cloaked in silence.

She watched the scenery blur past the window, her mind a tangled mess. Gian’s request, Alexander’s sudden appearance, and the memories of the past washed over her like a relentless tide, making it impossible to find her calm.

Alexander seemed to sense her turmoil and asked softly, “What are you thinking about?”

Danielle snapped back to the present, shaking her head. “Nothing.”

She paused, then couldn’t stop herself from asking, “Did you… hear all of that just now?”

Alexander didn’t deny it, simply giving a slight nod. “I heard some of it.”

Danielle’s breath caught.

“Did you two break up?” Alexander asked.

He shouldn’t have brought it up. He shouldn’t have reopened that wound.

The man lowered his gaze, his long lashes hiding the turmoil in his eyes. His voice came out low and hoarse. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have asked.”

Danielle looked up at him. The shifting light from the streetlamps played across his face, highlighting the hard lines of his profile. A wave of bitterness washed over her. He would never know that the child he thought was hers and Gian’s was actually his.

Her heart felt like it was being squeezed by an invisible hand, a dense, spreading ache.

Danielle sniffled, forcing herself to pull back from her thoughts. Her tone was deliberately indifferent. “It’s in the past.”

Three simple words, spoken so lightly, yet they took all the strength she had.

Alexander didn’t press further. Silence descended on the car once more, but this time it was heavier, thick with an unspoken tension.

He stared straight ahead, his fingers tightening on the steering wheel, his voice so calm it was almost cold. “Gian is a good man. He’s gentle, steady, and the Atwood family has more than enough capital to give you and Niki a stable life.”
