She put down her fork, her knuckles turning white. "Vincent is already under house arrest, and at a time like this, Lorie still wants to dig a deeper grave for her father?" Did Lorie really think this was enough to bring her down? How naive.
Her conscience was clear regarding that competition. Every technical parameter, every line of code, was the result of her own sleepless nights. Millie's failure was due to irreparable flaws in her own project and had nothing to do with her.
Lorie was just a cornered animal, lashing out. She hoped that by destroying Danielle, she could pave the way for Harold and get revenge for foiling the Gaylord family's plans. Alexander watched her calm profile, his heart stirring. "Aren't you afraid?" he asked.
If this evidence went public, even if she was eventually exonerated, it would inevitably damage her reputation. The aerospace industry demanded the highest personal integrity, and the power of rumors could often be more devastating than any concrete harm.
Danielle turned to him. "You always think I'm so weak, that I need your protection. You really underestimate me." Alexander froze, staring at her. Of course. How could he have forgotten?
He was the one who had pushed her onto the main stage, helping her shine in the industry. She had established herself in a field dominated by men and won the national competition on her own merit. She had always been resilient and brilliant, with a composure and decisiveness far beyond the ordinary.
"Besides," Danielle added, a cold smirk playing on her lips, "since Lorie dared to provoke me, she should have expected the consequences. She thinks this will crush me, but she doesn't realize that I can use this opportunity to release the evidence of her and Harold's collusion. It'll backfire spectacularly."
For a while now, she and Alexander had been secretly gathering evidence on Harold and Lorie—proof of Harold stealing core technology from Project 07, Lorie leaking trade secrets through her position, and their joint effort to frame Alexander's mentor. They had just been waiting for the right moment to expose it all. Now, Lorie's provocation had handed them the perfect chance.
Alexander turned to her. "I already have a plan for this. You don't have to get involved."
