The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 1147

“Besides, we already know each other. We wouldn’t have to force ourselves to get along with a stranger. It’s perfect.”

Gian watched her, the smile in his eyes deepening.

He knew Kirsten was most likely joking, but he had to admit, the suggestion was tempting.

At the very least, it would shut down his family’s matchmaking efforts and give him a temporary escape from the memories of Danielle. It seemed like a good option.

“Are you serious?”

He looked at Kirsten, his tone probing.

Kirsten’s heart pounded faster. She turned away, avoiding his gaze, and forced a casual tone. “Of course, I was just joking. I couldn’t actually marry you.”

Despite her words, the strange feeling in her heart lingered.

Gian didn’t press the issue. He picked up his glass and took a sip of water, his voice returning to its usual calm. “You don’t have to force yourself, you know.”

“If you really don’t want an arranged marriage, maybe you could try talking to your family.”

“Talk to them?”

Kirsten shook her head. “You know that’s not an option.”

Gian fell silent.

It was true.

They understood each other's family dynamics better than anyone.

Kirsten looked at Gian’s focused profile and suddenly felt a sense of relief.

Thank goodness there was someone like him, someone she could confide in late at night without any pretense or need to please.

“Actually,” Gian said suddenly, breaking the silence, “if you really want to avoid the marriage pressure, I can help you.”

Kirsten turned, looking at him quizzically.

“Like you said, we could pretend to get married.”

Kirsten looked at him, silent for a few seconds, then suddenly broke into a smile. “Alright, then. It’s a deal.”

“From this day forward, you are my ‘fiancé.’”

Even though it was just pretend, the moment she said the words, the weight on her shoulders seemed to lighten.

She knew this was just a temporary arrangement, a performance to help each other out, but she still felt an inexplicable sense of relief.

Gian saw her relieved smile and a hint of one appeared in his own eyes.

He tapped his fingertips on the desk.

“But there’s one condition.”

Kirsten looked at him.

“In a relationship like this, you’re the woman, and I won’t have you be disadvantaged.”

Gian’s voice was steady. “Aside from the specific intimacies of a couple, I will treat you with all the respect and consideration due to a fiancée. I expect you to take this seriously as well.”
