The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 1153

One day, Danielle received a call from Gian.

“Dani, there’s an important meeting I need to tell you about,” he said. “Ninesky Technologies is going to collaborate with NextCore to advance Project 07. The government has called a special meeting for a project analysis, and key figures from the industry will be there.”

Danielle’s fingers paused. Project 07 was her and Alexander Davidson’s current focus, and a government-led meeting was bound to be high-level.

“I understand. What are the time and location?”

“The day after tomorrow, nine in the morning, at the conference center in the city’s tech park,” Gian said, adding, “A lot of people will be attending. Harold and Lorie will be there. Even Leanne is on the invitation list.”

“It’s basically an open event for our circle. Many companies will be there.”

Danielle’s brow furrowed almost imperceptibly.

“Alright, I’ve got it.”

After hanging up, Danielle thought for a moment before dialing Alexander’s number.

He answered almost immediately. He never used to answer her calls.

“What’s wrong?” the man’s deep voice came through.

“Gian just told me about the government meeting for Project 07,” Danielle said, getting straight to the point. “What’s this meeting really about? Is it just a project analysis?”

“The government is taking this project very seriously. They want to assess the feasibility of the technology and its impact on the industry,” Alexander replied calmly. “Be ready for a fight.”

“A fight?” Danielle was taken aback for a second before she understood. “You mean Harold and Lorie will use this as an opportunity to cause trouble?”

“They’ve been close lately, and Lorie is still holding onto her so-called ‘evidence.’ There’s no reason for them to pass up a public stage like this,” Alexander said, his voice unreadable. “Plus, the venue will be crowded with industry leaders and government officials. If they want to stir up chaos, this would be the perfect arena.”

Danielle understood. A public accusation would be the most damaging. Even if she could eventually clear her name, Lorie throwing out fabricated evidence would tarnish both NextCore’s and her own reputation.

“I see. I’ll prepare a counter-plan.”

“Morning,” Danielle said with a smile as she approached.

Alexander looked up, his gaze lingering on her for a few seconds. Then, he handed her a breakfast container. “I just bought it, it’s still warm. You can eat on the way.”

Danielle took it, the warmth of the container spreading through her fingertips and filling her with a gentle heat.

“Thank you.”

She opened the box. Inside were the bagel she loved, a glass of hot milk, and a small portion of sliced fruit. It was clear he had been thoughtful.

Danielle found it almost amusing. He was quite the actor, pretending he didn’t know what she liked when, in the past, he had always deliberately done the opposite.

“Is Niki still asleep?” Alexander asked casually, his eyes glancing involuntarily toward the apartment building.

“I let her sleep in. She doesn’t have school today, so it’s a rare chance for her to relax.”
