The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 1198

“What file did you retrieve from the lab just now? And why didn’t you report it?” Alexander’s eyes were locked on him, searching his expression for any sign of deception.

“I… I went to get the chip’s test parameter file. Parham asked me to organize it earlier, and I forgot to grab it, so I went back. I thought I’d be quick, so I didn’t think to report it,” Leo stammered, his voice trembling.

“Where is the file?” Alexander pressed.

Leo quickly pulled the file from his bag and handed it over. “It’s right here, Mr. Davidson. I swear, I only went in to get the file. I didn’t touch the chip. Please, you have to believe me!”

Alexander took the document and glanced through it. It was indeed the test parameter file. He stared at Leo for a long moment. The young man was clearly nervous, but he didn’t look like he was lying.

“Go back for now. Be ready for further questioning.”

Looking as though he’d been granted a pardon, Leo nodded quickly and scurried out of the surveillance room.

The search dragged on. Outside, the wind howled and the snow fell harder, the blizzard threatening to descend at any moment. But there was still no sign of the chip. The atmosphere inside the station grew heavier with each passing minute, anxiety etched on every face.

Meanwhile, back in her hotel in the city, Danielle’s sense of unease was growing stronger. Alexander had ended their conversation so abruptly that she couldn't sit still. She kept refreshing the Antarctic weather forecast on her phone. Fortunately, the blizzard warning had been temporarily lifted, though the snow remained heavy.

But that did little to calm her nerves. She was more worried about what kind of emergency had occurred at the station.

She tried texting Alexander. No reply.
