Watching their thoughtful daughter, Alexander and Danielle felt a mix of pride and heartache.
Just then, the doorbell rang.
Calvin went to answer it and returned a moment later with several people.
The two men in the lead wore crisp uniforms and had serious expressions.
They were followed by several middle-aged men in formal suits who carried themselves with an air of authority.
The warm, cozy atmosphere in the room instantly cooled.
Alexander put down his utensils and slowly stood up.
He knew this was coming.
The lead officer stepped forward and saluted Alexander.
“Mr. Davidson, Mrs. Crawford,” he said, his voice firm. “We’re from the Strategic Intelligence Agency. This is a director from the Department of Technology. There are some matters we need to discuss with you.”
Danielle’s hand tightened around Niki’s.
Alexander gently patted her hand, signaling for her not to worry, before nodding at the men.
“Please, have a seat.”
Once everyone was seated, the SIA officer spoke first, his tone grave.
“Mr. Davidson, we’ve received the evidence forwarded by Mr. Sammie regarding the leak of the Project 07 fighter jet. This is a matter of grave importance. We need your and Mrs. Crawford’s full cooperation with the investigation. We also hope you will hand over the core evidence you possess.”
Without a moment’s hesitation, Alexander looked at Danielle.
She understood immediately.
She went to the study and quickly returned with a sealed evidence bag, placing it on the table.
“This contains the chip backup and a complete list of evidence detailing how Harold and Lorie colluded with foreign powers to steal the core technology for Project 07.”
Alexander added, “This evidence is more than enough to prove their guilt.”
The officials took the bag and carefully examined its contents, their expressions growing heavier.
