“I’ve already instructed the risk management department to tighten up the review process. We absolutely cannot let anyone with ulterior motives exploit any loopholes.”
“I should hope so.”
Gian’s gaze softened as he looked at her. “I know you’re capable, but this is a major issue. We can’t afford to be careless. If you need any help, don’t hesitate to ask.”
A warmth spread through Danielle’s chest, and she smiled. “Don’t worry, I’ve got it under control.”
Gian stood and walked to the window, watching the endless stream of traffic below. He seemed to remember something and turned back. “Oh, right. About Alexander… the way you two are now, it’s good.”
Danielle’s response was hesitant. “What’s good or not good about it? We’re just… ordinary neighbors.”
Gian couldn’t help but let out a low chuckle. “Right. Neighbors.” He didn’t press the point, simply adding, “Focus on your work. Don’t let personal emotions cloud your judgment.”
Danielle nodded, watching as he left the office. She settled back at her desk and picked up the file on their overseas partners. Ninesky Technologies was something she, Gian, and the others had built from the ground up with their own blood, sweat, and tears. She would never let anyone destroy it.

As dusk settled over the city, the lights came on along the road below Ninesky Technologies.
Danielle had just seen off the last group of representatives from their overseas partners. Rubbing her sore neck, she walked out of the building and saw a familiar black sedan parked by the curb. The driver respectfully opened the door for her. “Ms. Crawford,” he said in a low voice, “Mr. Davidson is waiting for you.”
