From the passenger seat, Lorie looked back to see Gian sheltering Danielle under his umbrella as they walked toward a black sedan parked nearby. “Alex, did you see that? Danielle’s boyfriend is Gian Atwood.”

Alexander stared straight ahead, his expression as dark as a thundercloud. He didn’t say a word. His mind was a tangled mess, replaying the image of Danielle and Gian standing together over and over—a picture so glaring it made it impossible for him to think straight.
