Aria's POV
The next morning, I could barely wake up.
Last night with Aiden had completely drained me - in the best possible way. Sex with him just kept getting better and better.
Through my foggy consciousness, I heard Aiden's deep voice somewhere in the room.
He was on the phone, speaking in that authoritative tone he used for business calls. The sound finally pulled me from my delicious slumber, and I rubbed my eyes, squinting them open.
Morning sunlight filtered through the gap in the curtains, casting a single beam across the room.
Aiden stood right in that shaft of light, looking like some golden god while the rest of the room remained in comfortable shadow. I lay there watching him for several seconds, admiring how the light caught his muscular silhouette before I finally pushed myself up to sitting position.
By the time I'd gathered my bearings, Aiden had ended his call. He turned, noticing me sitting up in bed, and walked over with purposeful strides.
"Did I wake you?" he asked, his voice softer than it had been on the phone.
I shook my head and looked up at him, my gaze landing directly on his Adam's apple. Instantly, I remembered three months ago when he'd come to pick me up at the Carter family home. That first day when I'd noticed how sexy that particular feature was on him. How far we'd come since then...
Catching myself staring, I quickly redirected my thoughts. "What time is it? Should we be heading back?"
My voice came out raspy from sleep and last night's activities, the pleasant soreness between my legs a reminder of everything we'd done.
Aiden reached for a thermos from the nightstand and handed it to me. "No rush. Drink this first. It's warm water."
I licked my dry lips and took the thermos, curious after taking a sip. "Where did you get this from?"
"Had room service bring it up," he replied simply.
I couldn't help the smile that spread across my face. My eyes brightened as I looked at him. "Is that because I mentioned the water was too cold yesterday?"
"Mm-hmm."
My smile grew even wider at his confirmation. "I'm going to brush my teeth!" I announced, suddenly energized. I hopped out of bed and padded to the bathroom, my bare feet making little slapping sounds against the floor.
As I disappeared into the bathroom, I didn't see Aiden's expression, but I could feel his eyes following me.
When I emerged after washing up, breakfast had just been delivered to our room. I'd barely patted on some moisturizer before joining Aiden at the table by the window.
With the curtains now fully open, sunshine flooded the room, creating a warm, cozy atmosphere. As Aiden handed me a spoon, our fingers brushed. The warmth of his skin reminded me of how I'd clung to him last night, half-asleep and wanting more of his heat.
I bit the spoon absently, tilted my head, and asked with genuine curiosity, "Aiden, why did you take a cold shower last night?"
