Year Five The Perfect Goodbye Plan novel Chapter 105

Kent’s words left Silvia momentarily stunned.

They were all in New York…

She couldn’t help but let out a soft laugh, nodding without adding anything further.

Her thoughts drifted.

She remembered, back when she first followed Shipley to Luminova City, she’d asked him if they could ever move back to New York for their careers.

After all, they were both born and raised there; the connections and resources would be so much more familiar.

And, truthfully, Silvia missed home.

But Shipley had only smiled gently, his tone soft as he replied, “Sweet Silvia, now that I’ve finally found my footing here, if I turned around and went back to New York, wouldn’t that make me look like a failure? Like I couldn’t make it on my own?”

For the sake of his pride, he refused to let Silvia return to the city she knew best.

At the time, Silvia had been annoyed.

But Shipley had pressed on, saying, “Sweet Silvia, don’t you want us to settle down together here in Luminova? Just the two of us—our own little world.”

Lost in the haze of love, Silvia hadn’t seen anything wrong with those words. In her eyes, it was a confession, a lover’s promise whispered just for her.

But looking back now, it all just seemed laughable.

Even if Kent’s roots were in New York and he wouldn’t leave easily, at least he spoke plainly, without pretense.

The more she compared the two, the heavier Silvia’s heart grew.

People can’t help but compare; even if she didn’t want to, Silvia found herself weighing Kent and Shipley’s words and actions against each other. And the more she did, the clearer it became how foolish her devotion of the past five years had been.

Silvia could almost see the thoughts racing through Yvette’s mind, and let out a resigned sigh. “Yvette, I know I’ve decided to settle down for good, but I can’t just jump into…well, being intimate with another man so suddenly.”

Truth be told, she and Kent might have once crossed that line.

She’d even been the one to make the first move.

But no matter how hard Silvia tried now, she couldn’t recall exactly what happened.

She tapped her forehead, almost regretting it after hearing Yvette’s reaction.

Everyone said Kent was the most attractive man in New York; even just one night with him would be worth it.

And she’d completely forgotten everything about it!

“Silvia, you really need to get over this mental block,” Yvette teased. “If you could sign those marriage papers on a whim, surely you can just go for it—close your eyes and take the plunge. With your figure, even if Kent’s the most self-controlled man in the city, he’d end up at your feet.”
