Silvia’s fingers were warm as she pressed them gently against Kent’s cold cheek, sharing a bit of her warmth with him.
He stared at her face for a long moment, an unreadable emotion flickering in his eyes.
After a while, Kent raised his hand and covered hers with his own, holding her hand tightly against his skin.
His tone grew serious. “Silvia, I know what you’re worried about. I won’t let anyone harm you and get away with it.”
She nodded. With her hand still pressed to his cheek, Silvia felt the tension in his features and tried to smile.
Suddenly, she playfully squeezed his face. “Kent, your skin could really use some pampering,” she teased, breaking the heavy mood with a lighthearted laugh.
But Silvia wasn’t just joking. She took Kent’s hand and pulled him into the bathroom, grabbing a bottle of moisturizer and dabbing it onto his face.
The sweet scent of the lotion lingered as Silvia smoothed it over his skin. Kent’s lips curled into a subtle smile, the amusement in his eyes growing more obvious.
He’d never cared much for this kind of thing—his morning routine had always been a quick splash of face wash and nothing more. But now, with Silvia tending to him, he found himself enjoying it. It wasn’t about the lotion; it was about her touch, her care.
As Silvia worked, she suddenly felt his gaze fixed on her. Pausing, she looked up, caught off guard by his attention, then quickly glanced away.
But Kent didn’t seem to take it that way. He just looked at her, his lips curving into a gentle smile. “Only to you.”
His voice was soft and a little rough around the edges. Silvia turned away to finish washing up, her silence betraying her embarrassment.
Kent just chuckled under his breath. Silly girl.
Once they were both ready, Kent drove Silvia to the hospital. She made her way alone to her colleague’s room.
After a night’s rest, her colleague looked much better. She sat up in bed with a bright smile as Silvia entered. “Silvia, you’re here so early today!”
