Year Five The Perfect Goodbye Plan novel Chapter 248

That voice—Silvia could recognize it anywhere.

She turned around and found herself facing Vianne. Despite the exhaustion clouding Vianne’s face, her clothes were as immaculate and stylish as ever.

Vianne clutched a basin of water, as if she’d just been tending to someone. When she caught Silvia eyeing the basin, she quickly hid it behind her back, as if embarrassed to be caught in such a humble act.

Silvia couldn’t help but find her reaction amusing. In a hospital, you were either a patient or someone taking care of one—what was the point of acting so high and mighty?

Still, it struck Silvia that she hadn’t seen Shipley since that night. Was he really still in the hospital, that badly off?

Her lips curled into a sardonic smile. Serves him right, she thought.

“We’re just enjoying ourselves. Does that somehow hinder Shipley’s miraculous recovery?” Silvia asked coolly.

Her voice dripped with sarcasm as she added, “Vianne, don’t flatter yourself. Not everyone worships the ground Shipley walks on. You’re the only one who seems to enjoy picking up other people’s trash.”

Vianne couldn’t miss the sting in Silvia’s words. Her eyes reddened as she stared back, refusing to look away.

“Silvia, after everything Shipley did for you—all he gave up, all he sacrificed—you really have to treat him like this?” Vianne’s voice trembled with wounded indignation, rising loud enough to draw curious glances from everyone nearby.

People in hospitals always seemed to relish a bit of drama. Now, the small crowd watched with barely concealed interest, eager to see what would happen next.

Silvia hated being the center of gossip. She met Vianne’s gaze, a mocking smile playing at her lips. “If you’re going to be the other woman, at least have the decency not to play the victim.”

Shipley sat by the window, gazing out at the gray sky. Vianne hurried over and threw her arms around him, bursting into tears the moment she touched him.

“Shipley, do you have any idea how cruel Silvia is?”

At the mention of Silvia’s name, a flicker passed over Shipley’s face.

Vianne’s sobs grew softer, more pitiful, as if she hoped her vulnerability would bring him closer. Her accusations became more pointed, her voice trembling with emotion.

“She knows you’re in the hospital, and she actually mocked you—said you deserved it!”
