Year Five The Perfect Goodbye Plan novel Chapter 25

So she ended up renting Kent’s place?

“I didn’t realize I’d rented your house,” Silvia said in disbelief.

Kent simply nodded, making no effort to elaborate. Instead, he changed the subject. “You really shouldn’t keep eating instant noodles—it’s not good for you. Especially considering your situation.”

Before Silvia could respond, Kent had already opened the door and stepped inside.

By the time she snapped out of her daze, he was gone, the door quietly closing behind him.

It was late autumn, and dusk came early; the sky outside was already a deep, inky blue.

Silvia returned to her own apartment. As she reached for the instant noodles, Kent’s words echoed in her mind. After a moment’s hesitation, she put the noodles back in the cupboard.

She wasn’t all that hungry anyway; skipping dinner for one night wouldn’t matter much.

About half an hour later, just as she was gathering her clothes for a shower, a knock sounded at the door.

She called out, “Hello? Who is it?”

A warm, slightly sheepish male voice answered, “I work at the restaurant next door. I’m here to deliver your dinner.”

Dinner delivery?

But she hadn’t ordered anything.

When Silvia opened the door, the man handed her a bag containing five neatly packed meal boxes.

She frowned, confused. “I think you must have the wrong address. I didn’t order any food.”

He shook his head. “A man named Parsons placed the order at our restaurant just now and asked me to deliver it to you personally.”

Parsons?

A flicker of surprise crossed Silvia’s face. “Mr. Parsons?”

The delivery guy nodded. “That’s right.”

Could Kent have ordered this for her?

A gentle warmth bloomed in Silvia’s chest.

Kent was always so reserved—she never expected him to be so considerate.

Instinctively, her gaze drifted across the hall to his door, but it was firmly shut.

By the time she’d finished cleaning up, it was already past nine.

She lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to fall asleep.

Suddenly, her phone rang, piercing the silence.

She reached for it and saw that it was her brother, Finn.

“Hey, Finn.”

“Silvia, you called me the other day, right? Sorry I missed it—I was swamped. Was there something you needed?”

Silvia suddenly remembered that she’d tried to call him a few days ago, when she was short on money at the doctor’s office.

“It’s all sorted now, Finn. Don’t worry about it…”

“Okay,” he replied, then shifted gears. “You’re coming home in about three weeks, right?”

“That’s right,” Silvia said quietly.

“Your fiancé’s in Luminova City too. Do you want to see him first when you get back?”
