Year Five: The Perfect Goodbye Plan novel Chapter 50

Shipley had never cared about what she wanted.

Silvia didn’t bother arguing with him any further. “What happens at the company has nothing to do with me anymore.”

Shipley’s tone dripped with a cold amusement, his voice smooth as glass. “Sweet Silvia, stop making a fuss. You’re really not behaving yourself.”

“Shipley.” It was rare for Silvia to call him by his full name. Her voice was steady. “Let’s have dinner together at the place where we first met in Luminova City, on the last day of this month.”

The last day of the month—just one day before she planned to leave.

She had written this invitation at the end of her farewell letter, but she wanted to say it to him herself, one last time. A proper goodbye mattered to her; she was someone who believed in the importance of rituals.

Shipley suddenly laughed, the sound low and magnetic. This time, his tone softened, almost affectionate. “Sweet Silvia, so you know you were wrong? Ready to admit it? Then I’ll wait for you a few more days. Five o’clock—don’t be late.”

“Okay.”

Silvia lowered her gaze and ended the call.

Even now, Shipley thought she was just giving in to him. He was so sure she’d never leave—just like every other argument they’d ever had, when she always caved in first.

But this time would be different.

Over the next few days, Shipley didn’t call her again. The wound on the back of her head had healed.

Then, the day of the dinner finally arrived.

After getting dressed, Silvia ran her fingers over the wooden bracelet on her wrist and murmured, “Time to give you back today.”

As she opened her door, she nearly bumped into Kent, her neighbor, who was just heading out.

Kent looked her over, one eyebrow raised. “Off on a date?”

She’d put on a little makeup, her features calm and porcelain-pale, making her look especially striking. Yet her expression was serene.

Silvia touched her nose and shook her head. “No, just saying goodbye.”

Kent held her gaze, reading more into her words, but didn’t press further.
