Year Five: The Perfect Goodbye Plan novel Chapter 58

The television tower in Capital City was one of the Ashford family’s many investments. From the ground floor to the very top, the entire building had been transformed into a commercial hub, each floor catering to a more exclusive clientele than the last.

At the very top sat the Skyview Restaurant, boasting sweeping vistas of the entire city and an average dinner bill that ran well into the six figures.

Finn and Silvia arrived beneath the soaring tower. Finn offered an encouraging nudge. “Silvia, your future fiancé’s reserved the whole top floor just for you. All you have to do is go up, and you’ll see him. Don’t worry—he may not be the world’s biggest talker, but he’s really not that bad.”

Silvia fell silent, the word “quiet” conjuring up the image of a tall, reserved man in her mind.

Would Kent, after realizing she’d run off, regret the help he’d given her these past few months?

She stepped out of the car and entered the elevator, pressing the button for the top floor. With each floor the elevator climbed, the number of passengers dwindled until she was the only one left.

Silvia caught her reflection in the mirrored wall and reapplied her lipstick, a flicker of nerves rising in her chest.

Ding—

The elevator doors slid open onto the top floor.

Stepping out, Silvia took in her surroundings. She’d never been here before. The Skyview Restaurant earned its name: perched at the pinnacle of the tower, the entire space was encased in floor-to-ceiling glass. Diners could feast while gazing down at the sprawling city below. The restaurant’s decor was straight out of a European manor—lush greenery, vibrant flowers, and an air of cultivated elegance.

It had been three years since Silvia had tasted the life of the truly wealthy.

Now, looking around, she couldn’t help but let a wry smile tug at her lips. Leaving Shipley had made her realize that this world—the world she’d once belonged to—was supposed to be hers.

“Miss Ashford.”

A middle-aged man in a well-tailored suit approached, his smile professional, posture respectful. He was the restaurant manager. “Please follow me. The gentleman is already waiting for you.”

Silvia nodded and followed him down a long corridor lined with blooming flowers and soft lights.
