The situation he found himself in made him want to laugh and cry. That Angeline was so greedy. It was late, and she should have gone to bed. Besides, there was no way a mere royal guard would be allowed to stay in her room.
"It's late. I'll tell you more next time. Besides, I've already taken a huge risk when I sneaked you out of the palace today," he explained to her patiently. Angeline's face fell when she heard that, but she nodded in agreement.
After Darryl bid farewell to Angeline, he went back to his room. Once near his room, he saw a maid waiting there. "Darren, Her Majesty wants to see you. Follow me, please!" she said hurriedly and led the way without even giving Darryl the chance to refuse.
'Sh*t. Have we been found out?' Darryl thought with knitted brows. He could feel the panic rising in his throat.
Very soon, under the maid's lead, they arrived at the Queen's room. Once there, Darryl was greeted with a sight that made him breathe laboriously. The Queen was seated with a few maids behind her. The atmosphere in the room was a little awkward and stagnant.
"Darren," the Queen called out to him with an expressionless face when she saw him. "The pill you gave me was very effective. Do you have more? Give one to me." Even though her tone was light, it left no room for refusal. The Queen had sustained severe injuries during the fight with Vernon and his subordinates. She needed more than one pill to recover completely.
'Oh, so that's all it is,' Darryl thought, quickly relaxing. Then he scratched his head and said, "Your Majesty, I only had one Heart Tempering Pill with me. But I can make you one now if you want."
The Queen was stunned, and her beautiful face was filled with confusion. "You mean the pill can be made?" There was no such thing as making a pill in the Roland Continent.
"Yes!" Darryl nodded and then smiled at the maids. "If it's not too much trouble, can you bring me some ingredients? I need some lumbricus, yellow palm…" Within a few moments, Darryl had listed out all the ingredients.
However, the maids stood there unmoving and looked at the Queen with confusion. They had all the ingredients in the palace, but how was it possible to create a pill out of them?
The Queen's face was calm, and she waved her hand. "Go!" Although she found Darryl's behavior to be odd, she had decided to trust him after that fateful night.
"Yes, Your Majesty." With that, the maid quickly went to get the ingredients.
Soon, with all the ingredients in front of him, Darryl took out a ceramic pot and put it above a fire. Then, he added the ingredients, one by one, to the pot. His movement was sure and measured.
The Queen and all the maids were instantly filled with mixed feelings. Was it really possible to make a pill by doing that?
The Queen's glistening eyes never once looked away from him. Although she had seen a lot during her reign, that was the first time she had seen someone do that.
Under the watchful gaze of his audience, Darryl checked and rechecked the fire to make sure the temperature was perfect after adding all the ingredients into the pot. The entire room instantly filled with warmth from the fire.
