Everyone in the living room was Darryl's close friend or family member, so they instantly recognized the voice to be Darryl's. Shocked, they shot up from their seats and quickly rushed out of the room. Their minds went blank, and their eyes began to brim with tears when they saw the handsome and tall man with a playful smile on his lips standing outside.
'Is it really him? Am I dreaming?' They rubbed their eyes in disbelief and looked at him again. 'It's really him! It's Darryl! He's still alive!'
"Brother Chester! Dax! Yvette! Yvonne!" Darryl shouted as he looked at them one after another. His heart was filled with joy, and the tears began to stream down his cheeks.
Three years—it had been three long years! He had missed everyone in the Nine Mainland so much. He could not keep his emotions in check when he was finally reunited with them.
"Darryl!"
"Well, I'll be damned."
Chester and Dax finally snapped back to their senses when Darryl called their names. Shock and happiness colored their faces. They walked up to him and enveloped him in a three-way bear hug.
"Darryl, it's really you! I'm so glad to see you," Chester said, all worked up. He had always been the calm type but was at a loss for words when he saw Darryl safe and sound.
Dax was indescribably ecstatic. He punched Darryl on the shoulder and mock-scolded him. "I'm not dreaming, am I? You're finally back. Brother Chester and I built a headstone for you at the ruins on top of Kunlun Mountain. D*mn you! Do you know how long I've cried about you? This won't do! You must make it up to me by treating me to a few rounds of drinks!"
He was smiling and crying at the same time. He thought that Darryl was dead, so even a macho man like him could not hold in his tears after seeing Darryl standing in front of him.
Darryl laughed. He felt touched and warm and fuzzy. "It's me, alright. I've come back! We can drink every day if you want, but I'm afraid you won't last long."
The three brothers hugged each other tighter, the smiles never leaving their faces.
"Darryl?" a woman's soft and trembling voice said.
Chester and Dax stepped aside without prompting.
Darryl took a deep breath and smiled at her. "Yvette…"
