Darryl spoke in a whisper, but Cayden heard everything he said clearly because he was standing very close to him.
"What did you say?" Cayden shouted angrily. 'D*mn him! How dare he call me a dog! I am the guardian of the Heavenly Alliance! I'll be the laughing stock of everyone if I take that lying down!'
Immediately, the Heavenly Alliance disciples surrounded Darryl, whose expression became stolid.
Debra frowned and said coldly, "Cayden, is that how you treat all your honorable guests?"
Cayden scoffed and, in an authoritative voice, said, "I have no other intention, but Darryl must apologize for what he said just now."
His face was gloomy, but there was cunningness twinkling in his eyes. He would be known throughout the entire Nine Mainland as the man who made Darryl, the hero, apologize. He wanted to see how Darryl would like that!
'Apologize?' Debra frowned; she knew her husband's prideful personality the best. There was no way he would apologize to Cayden.
"Why should I apologize? I was only telling the truth," Darryl said with a smirk as he looked at Cayden. Then, he swept his gaze around and, in a loud voice, said, "I would like everyone to weigh in on this. I was only talking to my wife just now. I asked her if she would bite a dog if it bit her. It was a private conversation between the two of us, and yet Cayden thought I was talking about him. Don't you all find that baffling?"
Everyone started to laugh, and some of them were even smirking at Cayden. His face turned beet red, and he nearly exploded in anger. How dare Darryl publicly humiliate him like that!
Incensed, Cayden drew his sword. He glared at Darryl and said, "It seems like you don't plan to leave this place in one piece."
A powerful aura exploded from Cayden's body, and the atmosphere became tense. Master Leonard and Master Reed tried to ease the tension.
"Guardian Cayden, Master Darby was only joking with you. There's no need to take him so seriously."
"Yes, let's all enjoy this celebration together."
Cayden's face turned vicious. "Shut up, all of you. That is between him and me. The next person to speak will be deemed the enemy of the Heavenly Alliance."
'D*mn that Darryl! I will make him pay for publicly humiliating me! Maybe the sects that haven't joined the alliance will be shocked into submission once they see how I take him down!'
Master Leonard and Master Reed sighed internally and gave up on trying to calm him down. They were not afraid of him but the Heavenly Alliance.
The other people watched them as if they were watching a drama. No one came forward to help Darryl, for they were not foolish enough to offend the Heavenly Alliance.
Cayden smiled coldly. 'Do you really think you can take the Heavenly Alliance down by yourself?'
"What should we do, Darryl?" Debra whispered in a panic. She glared at Cayden. Fury colored her beautiful face; she hated him for causing trouble for Darryl.
