"Report! A man claiming to be from the Hidden Hero Sect has requested an audience to discuss an urgent matter," a disciple said respectfully from the study's door.
'The Hidden Hero Sect?' Everyone, apart from Darryl, looked confused. They had never heard of that sect before. Darryl frowned and thought, 'So Agatha had finally realized that I'm gone.'
"Please bring him to the living room for guests," Darryl said with a nod. Then, he moved to the said living room with Chester and the others following behind him.
A middle-aged man was waiting quietly in the living room. He greeted them with a smile as soon as he saw Darryl and the others. "Please forgive me for the sudden visit, but the Hidden Hero Sect would like to invite you all to attend tonight's Alliance Conference at Veridian Mountain."
Then, he placed the invitation card on the table and left without waiting for their response.
'Huh? What's going on?' Chester, Yvette, and the others were all confused. 'Why would a sect we never heard of suddenly want to invite us to attend a conference?'
Darryl smiled and started to explain. "The Hidden Hero Sect is a hidden sect and has only recently set foot in the world of cultivators. The two mysterious old men who kidnapped me are the sect's elders."
He told them everything in detail. Everyone glanced at each other in shock after he had finished telling the story. For a moment, the entire living room was deathly quiet.
Finally, Chester was the first to react. "I can't believe that the Hidden Hero Sect is related to the Yellow Emperor! And not to mention that the Godly Region is to be blamed for the Yellow Emperor's death!"
He frowned and continued to say, "Even though the Godly Region has always looked down on the Human World, the two sides have been at peace with each other for thousands of years. So I find it a little inappropriate for the Hidden Hero Sect to send an invitation to a meeting to discuss how to deal with the Heavenly Alliance."
Yvette nodded in agreement and said, "Yeah, the world of cultivators would be thrown into chaos if a war breaks out between the Hidden Hero Sect and the Heavenly Alliance."
Darryl also nodded. "You're both right. But think about it this way, the Heavenly Alliance has merged so many sects and been developing at a rapid pace since its establishment two months ago. So I don't think it's a bad thing for the Hidden Hero Sect to curb its development," he said with a smile.
Then, he was silent in contemplation before saying, "I think it's best if we don't go to the conference for the time being and just see how things progress."
Everyone nodded in agreement.
In just half a day, every sect and powerhouse that the Heavenly Alliance had not merged received an invitation from the Hidden Hero Sect. Like Darryl, most of the sects would not participate in the conference as they took on a wait-and-see approach.
On the other side, Skylar had escaped to a small town not far from Veridian Mountain. It was agreed beforehand that he would meet Kendall there. In his room at the inn, he was sitting in a cross-legged position, channeling the power of fiend soul. He had already taken the antidote for the withering ointment and regained his original appearance. However, he was still pale and weak from the injuries he had sustained.
Kendall was solemnly standing watch over him. 'I can't believe Sect Master failed in his mission.'
Suddenly, Skylar opened his eyes and contorted his handsome face in rage. "D*mn it! I would have succeeded if it weren't for that b*stard, Darryl!"
