Chester exchanged a look of confusion with the rest.
The scale dragon knew Darryl?
At that time, none of them knew that the Hidden Hero Sect had managed to capture Darryl previously and that Veron Lange had pushed him off the cliff for revenge.
Yvette was dumbfounded. She braced herself and went forward to speak to the scaled dragon. "Of course, I know Darryl Darby! He's my man!"
"He's my sworn brother!" Dax chimed in.
The scale dragon paused for a second and stretched his mouth wide open, laughing boisterously. "So you're all Darryl's good friends and family. I see now. If that's the case, you can relax. It's a misunderstanding. We're friends!"
Friends?
Chester and the rest paused in disarray upon hearing that.
What was going on?
The scaled dragon saw how puzzled everyone looked and chuckled. "To be frank with you, when I got into some muddy trouble earlier on, it was Darryl who helped me." The scaled dragon told them the story in great detail.
So that was what happened.
Chester and the rest were stunned, but they smiled in relief when they learned the story.
They thought they were dead for sure—what a pleasant turn of events!
Yvette went forward again to speak with the scaled dragon. "If that's the case, you should help us get out of this cave to repay Darryl for the favor."
Everyone nodded in agreement.
The scale dragon paused to ponder for a moment before he said, "I'm currently at my most critical moment of transforming. After breaking through the previous blockade, I've been patiently waiting for the Ascension of Thunder. So I can't leave just yet."
The scaled dragon was not wrong. After Darryl helped it break through its blockade, it was just one step away from the Heaven Ascension, fully transforming into a dragon. The Heaven Ascension was every enchanted beast's last blockade.
Geometrically speaking, the cave was located in a unique spot where Ascension of Thunder could take place, where its power would be dispersed. That was why the scaled dragon could not just leave the cave just yet.
