"Honorable Master!"
Grunt began to panic when things took a turn for the worse. He turned toward Master Magaera and said, "We can't fight anymore! Please, let's retreat."
Staying any longer was a one-way ticket to death.
Master Magaera did not respond, his face darkening even further.
F*ck, they had been a step too late. Magaera had intended to put a damper on Archfiend Antigonus' plans with a few hundred thousand men. However, he still succeeded in reviving the fiends.
"Retreat!"
Master Magaera was regretful when he called out the order a few seconds later, "Retreat from the Sealed Fiend Mountain at full speed."
Master Magaera was livid with indignance. He was the second most powerful person in the Godly Region, for crying out loud! He had won countless battles and built a reputable name for himself. Yet he had wound up in such a sorry state, being ambushed to the point of having to retreat.
However, there was nothing they could do. There was no way any of them could get out alive if they stayed any longer.
A retreat would give them a last shot at survival.
At Master Magaera's orders, the soldiers did not hesitate a second longer. One by one, they stopped fighting back, turning to escape.
Archfiend Antigonus let out a raucous peal of laughter toward the heavens, his eyes flashing with crazed malice. "Don't let a single one of them get away, my warriors. Seize them!"
The fiends howled in acknowledgment as if they had lost all their sanity. They charged toward the retreating soldiers with renewed enthusiasm.
…
Over at the dense forest not far from the Sealed Fiend Mountain.
Mona and 20 other subordinates were making their way forward at a glacial pace. Darryl was severely injured, and that slowed them down a great deal.
"Can we move any slower?"
Mona turned back to glare at Darryl as she continued complaining. "I really don't know what Lia was thinking, insisting on protecting that fake."
"Look at the pace we're going! He's a deadweight. We're never going to make it back like this!"
Her words were filled with condescension.
Mona did not have a loud voice. However, Darryl could hear her clear enough, all the way from the back of the crowd. He merely smiled, not putting too much thought into it.
He understood that anyone in a situation like that would have found it impossible to remain calm.
Just then, a series of howls could be heard from behind. They were followed by countless figures, rapidly approaching them.
