Perfect Husband, The Destined One novel Chapter 4120

That was far from what the Black Tortoise King had wanted to happen. Oliver was his son, after all. However, if he did not do that and the truth was exposed in the future, the Black Tortoise King would never be able to look any of the Demon tribe members in the eye again.

Darryl was the Demon tribe's hero. Oliver had framed him for a heinous crime, an act of blatant disrespect to the Demon tribe. That was a big problem.

"Father!"

Since the Black Tortoise King was about to leave, Oliver grew desperate. He lunged forward, grabbing his father by the leg, crying and begging. "I beg you, Father. I don't want to be sentenced and punished. I don't want to die!"

Oliver truly feared for his life. He had never imagined that his father would make such a decision. Framing Darryl was a crime worthy of a public sentence, and the consequences were unthinkable.

The Black Tortoise King remained unmoving toward his son's begging. He said coldly, "You should have thought of that before you framed Honorable Master Darby, then!"

The Black Tortoise King's face was positively ashen, wrought with resentment as he spoke. "You really disappointed me this time, Oliver. Honorable Master Darby rescued the entire Demon tribe, and that is how you repay him? Even if I were to forgive you, do you think the White Tiger King and the other leaders would do the same?

"What will become of the Black Tortoise tribe if I cover for you like this?"

"Please don't, Father!" Oliver was losing it, kneeling as he kowtowed into the ground over and over again. "Think how sad Mother would be if you were to hand me out. I know I made a mistake this time, Father, please give me a chance, just one chance!"

Oliver had the most pitiful expression on his face, and he had brought up his mother. The Black Tortoise King took a deep breath, his gaze softening immediately.

Oliver's mother had been the love of the Black Tortoise King's life. Yet she had been cursed with ill fortune and contracted a terminal illness when Oliver was very young. The Black Tortoise King had combed for every healer he could find, but to no avail. Regretfully, Oliver's mother died where the Demon tribe had been held captive.

The Black Tortoise King had always felt remorse toward Oliver over that.

"Fine!"

After a brief silence, the Black Tortoise King finally spoke. "I'll forgive you just this once."

"Thank you, Father." Oliver could hardly contain his relief. He made a move to stand up. However, when he saw the look on his father's face, he sank back down onto his knees almost immediately.
