Darryl was also stunned as he saw Olive's face. 'Sh*t! I didn't hold myself back and now I'm exposed.'
He forced a smile and explained, "Olive, let me explain. I really couldn't speak yesterday and after resting for a night, my voice has finally come back."
He looked closely at Olive, worrying that she would be furious. If this were any other girl, he would not be bothered. However, Olive was kind-hearted and did all she could to let him stay at the Sword Sect. He would feel bad if he hurt her.
Seeing Darryl looking worried, Olive gathered her thoughts and burst into laughter. "You're not mute? Your voice is pretty enchanting."
Then, she tilted her head and appraised Darryl as she asked curiously, "Dart, how did you get hurt? Why couldn't you speak?"
Olive had grown up freely in the Sword Sect and had been cultivating for more than ten years. She had read a lot, but it was her first time encountering someone turning mute after being injured.
Darryl scratched his head and quickly got an idea. He answered, "I have no idea either. After being attacked by the bandits, I went unconscious and lost my voice when I woke up."
He would never tell the truth and so he had no choice but to make up a lie.
Seeing Darryl was serious, Olive no longer doubted him and nodded. "Okay. Looks like you were rather unlucky."
Then, she looked at Darryl's leg. "Are you able to walk?"
"Yes!" Darryl nodded.
Olive clapped her hands happily and cheered out loud, "I thought you'd need to rest for a few days. The weather is pretty good today. After getting something to eat, I'll show you around the Sword Sect."
Seeing her so enthusiastic, Darryl did not have the heart to reject her and nodded with a smile.
The pair quickly had their breakfast and Olive brought Darryl away from the thatched cottage to walk around.
It was undeniable that the Sword Sect had been passed down for thousands of years and the environment at the main altar was terrific. There were towering ancient trees and flowers everywhere, creating beautiful and mesmerizing scenes.
