"Diego!"
Jedidiah's expression was ashen as he asked Diego, "What happened here? What are you doing here so late at night? Who wounded you this badly? Also, where is Khloris?"
The other sect members' gazes landed intently on Diego. They seemed to be waiting for an answer from him too.
Diego took a deep breath, speaking weakly, "I was out making rounds tonight when I heard a noise from the water dungeon, so I came to see about it. I saw Olive trying to help Khloris escape when I got here!"
Diego's expression was utterly solemn as he spoke, but his chest throbbed with uncertainty.
He could not tell them that he broke into the water dungeon and tried to take advantage of Khloris. He could only lie about it.
"Olive came back?"
Jedidiah frowned lightly. "And she took Khloris with her?"
"Exactly!"
Diego nodded, putting on an expression of shame and anger. "I tried to stop her, but Olive seems to have learned sword skills from somewhere else. She was a nightmare. I was no match for her, and she stabbed me."
What?
Jedidiah's expression shifted as he exclaimed in shock internally.
Olive's skills were not even good enough to be considered average in the Sword Sect. Yet she had just maimed his most skilled follower.
Just as Jedidiah was pondering that, he said, "Master, I think Olive learned her sword skills from that Dart fellow."
That man again.
Jedidiah clenched his fists, trying to hold back the anger in his chest. "Send out orders to hunt for Khloris and Olive. See that they are captured and brought back to me no matter what."
"Yes, Sect Master!"
Sensing Jedidiah's rage, the sect members scrambled to acknowledge the command and hurried out of the water dungeon.
