Goldie had lived in the cave for many years and was familiar with the outline of the cave. It had managed to bring Kendall out of the cave and back onto ground level in no time at all.
Kendall was overwhelmed with emotion when she breathed the fresh air.
She had finally made it out. She thought she would die trapped in the cave.
At that thought, Kendall's features hardened as she swore to herself silently.
'Darryl and Sergio, just you wait. I'm going to restore my powers and have both your heads.'
…
Meanwhile, in the cave.
Celine and Queenie leaned on each other. Both women looked frail and worn, their brows fraught with helplessness.
After they were forced to take the Bone Weakener, their bodies ached. They could not use any strength at all.
Darryl lay sprawled on the ground at a clearing not far from them. His eyes were closed. He showed no signs of waking up anytime soon either.
The sky was darkening by the second, and Celine and Queenie exchanged anxious glances.
Just an hour ago, Sergio had left the cave. It was unclear what he had gone off to do. That would be the perfect chance for them to escape. However, the pair had taken the Bone Weakener, and they had no strength to move.
More importantly, they could not just leave Darryl there.
Just then, a fiery glow could be seen outside the cave. Sergio had started a fire before he skinned two rabbits and skewered them onto branches to roast them.
It looked like he had gone hunting just before that.
Before long, the smell of the roasting meat wafted toward the cave. Celine and Queenie bit their lips. They had been trapped in the Maple Manor for a few days. They were weak. On top of that, they had also spent the day exerting quite a bit of energy, so it was no surprise that they were hungry and tired.
Sergio was not that great of a cook. Yet, Celine and Queenie's stomachs grumbled when they smell the aroma of cooked meat.
