Queenie was filled with hopelessness and agony.
She had spent all those years wandering the world with her master, learning countless skills and amassing powers. However, it looked like that shameless b*stard would taint her purity.
That was so unfair.
Queenie could not help the tears that streamed down her face. She could feel Sergio's lips were about to touch hers, and her heart withered hopelessly.
"Stop what you're doing!"
At the very last second, a roar sounded from behind them.
Everyone turned to look at who it was. They were shocked by the scene that greeted them.
It seemed like Darryl had woken up, and he stood there in silence. Despite his pale face and frail exterior, his gaze was bloodshot, and his aura was terrifying.
"Brother-in-law!"
"You're awake, Darryl."
Celine and Queenie snapped back to their senses simultaneously after a brief pause in shock, exclaiming with barely-contained glee.
Queenie thought that Darryl could do everything. Despite his frail-looking self, he would be able to come up with a way to save them.
As if he had sensed Queenie's overwhelming emotion, Darryl comforted her in a gentle tone. "Don't worry. I'm here now."
He glared at Sergio coldly, speaking in a tone that left no room for doubt. "Let her go."
"Oh?"
Sergio squinted condescendingly at Darryl. "Look who's awake. I guess the Nine Mainland hero does sound different when he speaks. You look positively sorry right now, though. What will you do if I don't let her go?"
Sergio tightened his grip on Queenie. He seemed to have no intention of letting go, his gaze hardening in a challenging manner.
He would not have behaved so out of line if he had stood in front of Darryl a day ago. However, things had changed. He had taken Kendall's powers, and he had become impossibly strong. On the other hand, Darryl was extremely weak. Of course, Darryl's presence did not intimidate Sergio.
