In his excitement, Sergio hurried toward the palace without a second thought. When he arrived, he discovered that there was already a horde of people at the registration area just outside the palace entrance. After signing up, he stayed the night at one of the inns near the palace.
Early the next morning, Sergio got up and rushed directly to the Prayer Hall, a place used by the South Cloud Royals to worship the heavens. The place was huge and Morticia designated it to be the site of the competition.
When Sergio arrived, he noticed that there was already a sea of people outside the Prayer Hall. Tens of thousands of people had come from all corners of the world of cultivators to participate in the competition.
Sergio's ambitious heart ignited with determination when he saw the scene. His fortunes might just rise meteorically from then on and propel him to unheard riches.
As the excitement in his heart grew, Sergio walked over quickly and reported his name at the entrance. He was given a number before entering the Prayer Hall. There were still a couple of minutes left before the competition began, so the participants began to gear themselves up.
A sense of excitement and tension was present throughout the entire venue.
Sergio did not panic at all, though. He was actually more confident when he looked around and did not see any familiar people. As long as someone like Darryl did not show up, reaching the top ten would not be an issue.
At that moment, a eunuch entered the hall slowly and walked to the center of the ring.
He announced loudly, "Everyone, today's competition is unlike any other in the past, for the royals require individuals who are beyond skilled and powerful. No rules have been drawn up and anyone who thinks that they are strong can come forth as they wish.
"Be warned that battles can be ruthless. I hope you will all refrain from being too impulsive and confident. The competition is three hours. Once the time is up, the last person standing will be crowned the winner."
The eunuch hurried down after making the announcement. Then, a big bell was rung and the competition officially began.
'No rules?' A majority of the cultivators present there were all stunned after hearing that. They were also extremely eager to give it a go, but unfortunately, no one dared to be the first.
Moments later, a young man laughed when he saw that no one went up and decided to jump into the ring.
He glanced across the crowd and said, "Haha, are all of you really that cautious? I'll go first then! I am Trey Wolfforth, a disciple of Green Cloud Sect! Does anyone wish to engage me in a duel?"
