So, the Empress had thrown Darryl into prison not just to vent her anger, but she had also done it with Prince Auten's future in mind.
However, the Nine Heaven Emperor had declared that Prince Aurin was next in line to the throne. How would Empress Heidi change that?
Master Magaera took a deep breath and told her his thoughts.
"Magaera!"
Empress Heidi bit her lip, saying in a low voice, "I'm well aware of that. That's why I'm going to need your help."
"Me?" Magaera stopped short, slightly confused. "How can I help?"
Empress Heidi smiled lightly. "You're one of the most powerful people in the Godly Region and the late Emperor's right-hand man. If you support Auten, no one will dare retaliate against your decision."
Empress Heidi looked up to stare at Master Magaera.
Master Magaera's chest thumped slightly. At the same time, he was caught off guard. "Is that a good idea? The Emperor did make that declaration, after all. Won't I commit a huge sin by going against his wishes?"
Master Magaera was an honest person; he would not do anything that would go against justice.
Empress Heidi let out a troubled sigh. "It's alright if you don't want to do it. The Emperor's gone anyway, along with all my hopes and dreams. I will return to the Jade Fairyland with Auten tomorrow, and we'll live out the rest of our lonely lives there."
Empress Heidi's expression was stricken with grief, her exquisite features twisted in disappointment.
Yet, her gaze never left Master Magaera; she watched his emotions shift.
Empress Heidi was an intelligent woman, and it was just a game of reverse psychology.
Master Magaera did not respond immediately. Instead, he knitted his brows and fell deep into thought.
"Magaera!"
Empress Heidi lifted her hand to touch Master Magaera's arm softly as she said, "I know how you've felt about me all these years, and I hold much affection for you as well. It's a shame we're in different positions of power.
