Prince Auten's expression darkened as his anger bubbled in his chest.
'F*ck, do these officials think Aurin is better than me?'
"Don't worry!"
When Master Magaera noticed his expression, he said in a low voice, "I've got this."
Master Magaera stepped forward, radiating power and authority. "Why are you mumbling among yourselves? Does anyone have any objections? If no one objects, it's settled."
His voice was not loud, but he stood his ground and allowed no room for retaliation.
As the final word rang through the air, Master Magaera retrieved a golden sword and handed it to Prince Auten. The sword was beautifully crafted; it was the late Nine Heaven Emperor's Hurricane Thunder Sword.
The sword had belonged to the Nine Heaven Emperor. He passed it to Prince Auten, so it implied that the throne was passed onto him as well.
The officials in the room exchanged glances; they had unreadable expressions on their faces.
"Hold on!"
At last, a figure stepped forward, halting Master Magaera. "You're making a decision on our behalf. Don't you think that's a little presumptuous?"
His face was steeled with seriousness. It was Lunaris General.
A few officials walked forward to address Master Magaera as well.
"That's right. Choosing the next emperor is a huge deal. How can you be so careless about it?"
"The late Emperor had always been kind to you, Master Magaera. He declared Aurin as his successor, but now you're crowning Prince Auten? Why would you turn your back on his royal decree?"
The lectures sounded through the air endlessly. Master Magaera's expression darkened, and he said coldly, "You're not wrong. The late Emperor did declare for Aurin to be the next emperor. But nothing was set in stone; nothing was confirmed.
"I think Auten's a much better pick than Aurin is in terms of values, conduct, and skills."
