At the words, Hendrick nodded and did not say anything further.
Daisy had finished feeding Wisteria all the medicine. She retreated to the side silently.
At the same time, the gazes of everyone in the room zeroed in on Wisteria, waiting to see what would happen.
The great hall was deathly silent.
"Mmph…"
After a few minutes, Wisteria regained consciousness. She emitted a series of painful grunts as her body began to tremble slightly.
"Hendrick!" Wisteria saw Hendrick blearily, mumbling in a weak voice, "I am in so much agony. Am I going to die?"
Her body continued to tremble as sweat began to form on her forehead.
Crap!
Daisy panicked in an instant. Darryl's medicine did not seem to be working.
Keele glared at Darryl with an unreadable expression. F*ck, he had anticipated that the idiot would not know anything and would be making things up. If they had waited for his master's return, there might have been a slim chance of turning things around, but it was almost too late for that then. Wisteria would perish, and the Lunar Moon Hut would perish with her.
"Don't worry, Wisteria! I'm here!" Hendrick rushed forward, clutching Wisteria's hand in his. Tears formed in his eyes as his chest flared with anger.
The ruffians turned to glower at Darryl.
The next second, one of the ruffians called out loudly as he clutched his long sword and charged in Darryl's direction. "You b*stard! You were really trying to kill our High Lady! I'm going to kill you first!"
At the sight of the incoming blade, Darryl stood firm as a mountain, unmoving.
"Stand down!"
Hendrick yelled out loud as he stared intently at Wisteria, overcome with emotion, upon noticing that the sword was about to strike Darryl.
The only thing that could be seen was the thin layer of ice on Wisteria's body rapidly melting away. In addition, her ghostly pale face seemed to regain some color as her body stopped trembling.
That was a sure sign that she was getting better.
"Hendrick!"
Wisteria's eyes appeared to regain clarity, no longer blurry and uncertain. She said, "Hendrick, I don't seem to be cold anymore."
Hendrick was overwhelmed with emotion. "It's amazing that you aren't! That means you've gotten better."
"Yeah!"
Wisteria called out in agreement before her stomach let out a series of growls. She grew slightly flustered. "I'm hungry, Hendrick."
Hendrick could not help but burst out laughing as he extended a hand to pat Wisteria's forehead. "Alright, alright. I'll take you to have some good food. We'll go to your favorite restaurant and get everything you like to eat."
Wisteria agreed before descending from the bamboo bed with Hendrick's assistance. She appeared to be in an entirely different state than she had been mere minutes earlier. It was as if she had become a different person.
Well…
Keele was stunned into speechlessness. He stared at Darryl in disbelief.
Impossible. How could that man who knew nothing about medicine have healed Wisteria Steinfield?
Daisy trembled as she stared at Darryl in a daze. She was shocked beyond words.
He had succeeded.
He had not used the ice grass to heal her cold. That was truly unbelievable. No one would believe it if they did not see it with their own eyes.
At the same time, the ruffians were beside themselves with joy, hooting and cheering among themselves.
"I knew that High Lady would not give up so easily."
"Of course! She's so young. How could a mere cold take her down?"
"This is wonderful! High Lady is finally cured."
Hendrick felt nothing but ease as he stared at Darryl in awe. "I would not have known that you were such a fine doctor at first glance. I'm sorry for being so rough just now!"
Hendrick took out a gold bar and placed it on the table, speaking with the air of a graceless billionaire. "This is yours to keep. Take it as a reward!"
Then, Hendrick called out to his men as he was about to leave with Wisteria.
Darryl did not reach out to take the gold bar. Instead, he said lightly, "Please hold on, Young Master Steinfield!"
