Kendra grabbed Darryl's arm tightly and looked at him with anticipation. "How was it? What did they say? Did they promise to let me go?"
There was excitement and anticipation on her exquisite face. She thought after the discussion, the beasts would agree to let her go. However, it was not what she expected.
Darryl shook his head while feeling bad for Kendra. "They aren't going to let you go."
'What?'
The result struck Kendra so hard that she was stunned and hopeless. "Why?"
Darryl smiled bitterly. "I said you're my friend, but the Garan leader said you're just a friend of mine. They had already set a precedent because of me, and now, they can't break the rule again."
Kendra felt like her brain had failed to process the information she had just heard.
'What kind of rules do they have? Why can they exempt Darryl and not other people? Just because he can speak the beast language?'
She was anxious and said, "Tell them I'm your family."
Darryl replied bitterly, "I already mentioned that, but the Garan leader doesn't believe it. He said that family members are normally very close with each other, and we don't seem close at all. Plus, you were pointing your sword at me earlier…"
He looked earnest, but he was actually laughing out loud in his heart.
'Hahaha! She never would've guessed that I was actually tricking her. Why did she have to be so arrogant all the time?"
'Close?'
Kendra was stunned when she heard that word. She bit her lip and said, "Say I was just joking with you."
She immediately regretted her decision. Had she known it would be so dangerous, she would never have entered the main hall.
