Besides that, Ambrose also saw there were a lot of people on patrol. The outer perimeter of the island was as hard as the steel wall. Even a fly could not fly in without being noticed.
'Sh*t!'
After his observation, Ambrose cursed. However, he quickly discovered that neither the people at the look-out post nor the patrolling guards were energetic. Most of them had fallen asleep, including those guarding the look-out posts.
He smiled happily at this discovery.
'It's good that they're all exhausted,' Ambrose thought.
Ambrose and Neil waited for the right time to strike. When a group of patrolling guards left half an hour later, they quickly passed the look-out post.
Once they got through the look-out post, it meant that they had successfully gotten through the first line of defense, but there were still a lot of look-out posts on the way to the cluster of palaces. Due to the night sky and unfamiliar environment, Ambrose and Neil proceeded very carefully, yet they got lost in their ways.
Soon, they were near a thatched hut. They stopped walking immediately. The thatched hut was made out of banana leaves and was a very simple hut. There were around seven to eight disciples with patrolling duty sitting there. They were chatting and drinking alcohol to warm up their bodies.
Although it was spring, the weather on the island was quite chilly at night. Those disciples had been on shift consecutively, and they hardly had a break. They were on the verge of passing out due to exhaustion. Hence, they took a break to drink a little alcohol to warm up their bodies.
Ambrose and Neil hid in the nearby bushes and listened to their complaints.
"I have no idea what His Excellency is thinking. We already have tight security on the island, yet he still wants to increase the defense. Is he trying to wear us out?"
"That's right. I haven't slept for a whole day and night. I'm about to pass out soon."
"Shhh… Stop talking. Let's drink."
Ambrose and Neil looked at each other and smiled.
'Haha! The leader ignored his men's workload, resulting in them complaining about their dissatisfaction.'
