Darryl Darby was far too much. How was that considered saving them? It was clear he tried to blackmail them.
Darryl sighed softly at their responses. "It appears you can't fulfill either one of my two requests. Alright, you take care then."
As he spoke, he pretended to wave Rachelle over, signaling to leave.
Just then, Evan took a deep breath, calling out quickly, "Wait! Sect Master Darryl, we'll agree to both conditions."
His fists were clenched as he spoke. Agreeing to Darryl's conditions as the Heavenly Ocean Sect Master would do huge damage to his reputation.
Unfortunately, he had no choice. Everyone was stuck at Darryl's mercy, and he was their only way out. Things could get infinitely worse if they did not take up this chance.
As the words rang through the air, Martin's expression was panicked as he could not help but say, "Sect Master… A public apology…"
Martin had barely finished talking when he was coldly cut off by Evan. "Shut up. I've made my mind up, and we'll be doing exactly as Sect Master Darby says. It's true that we were in the wrong for causing that ruckus before."
As he spoke, Evan stared purposefully at Martin, signaling for him to be quiet and calm down.
Martin was a smart man, and he immediately knew that his sect master had a plan.
Sensing that, Martin's expression shifted immediately as he bowed respectfully to Darryl. "My Sect Master's right. Whatever happened before was our fault. We'll make a public apology, and leave that Lindsey girl alone."
Alright!
Seeing them say so, Darryl nodded. "Alright, then. You seem sincere enough, so I'll let you go."
As he spoke, he called out to Rachelle to walk over to untie everyone.
Darryl was no fool. He could tell that Evan was far from willing, and was only pretending to go along with whatever Darryl wanted. If he were to leave them be, he would be no match for Prince Auten if he only had Rachelle with him.
Whew…
Quickly enough, Evan strode over to thank Darryl profusely. "Thank you for your kindness, Sect Master Darryl. Don't worry, we'll be sure to hold up on our end of the promise once we get out of here."
He spoke as such, but cursed Darryl a thousand times internally.
Darryl smiled, waving his hands. "You're more than welcome, Sect Master Evan."
