Over on another end, Prince Auten sat by the rubble, meditating silently.
The True Flame pupils stood around him with expressions of terror. Just ten minutes ago, Prince Auten had broken the Inverse Five Elements Formation and rescued all the pupils in there.
Following that, he had sent people to hunt down Darryl and Rachelle before heading off to tend to his own injuries.
Prince Auten slowly opened his eyes as he let out a heavy breath. His wounds had healed a great deal, but his expression remained ashen.
Just then, the pupils who had been sent out after Darryl and Rachelle returned.
"Where are they?"
Upon the sight of the terrified looks on the pupils' faces, Prince Auten could predict what had happened immediately. Yet he still could not help but ask the question coldly.
The leading pupil's forehead perspired profusely as he replied in a terrified tone, "Sect Master… We searched high and low, but we couldn't find the pair—"
"You good-for-nothings! Unable to do a task so simple. What are any of you good for, then?"
Before the pupil could finish, Prince Auten cut him off with a furious roar as his gaze blazed. His anger grew as he continued to speak.
He had thought that he would be able to stop Darryl and Rachelle, only for those idiots to fear death and miss the perfect chance to capture them.
Sensing Prince Auten's anger, the pupils' chests thudded as they fell to their knees all at once.
The next second, the head pupil began to beg in terror, "Please spare our lives, Sect Master. Please have mercy…"
Ever since the Sect Master had been reborn through the Art of Grand Brightness, he had turned impossibly violent and aggressive. The entire True Flame Sect revered and feared him greatly.
Prince Auten radiated an air of fury for a few seconds before he finally calmed down, taking a deep breath to say coldly, "I'll let you go just this once. You'll be paying with your lives if this happens again."
Truthfully, Prince Auten wanted nothing more than to kill these pupils off to let off steam. However, on second thought, there was some benefit to keeping them around, and so he held his fury in.
"Thank you, Sect Master."
At his response, the pupils let out squeals of appreciation.
Prince Auten paid them no mind, rubbing at his temple as he fell deep into thought.
