Yun Shang was stunned. She kept silent and her brows puckered. At last, she satirized, "Why didn't they also poison with the fluffy snow lotus, so that they could show that it was done by the same person?"
Luo Qingyan kept staring at Yun Shang until she calmed herself down. Then he answered, "I guess it's because Liu Yinfeng is a counsellor." He paused as Yun Shang was still confused. Then he went on, "A military general is easy to obtain, but a counselor is hard to find. Especially, such an outstanding counselor as Liu Yinfeng is more difficult to get.. Our enemy wanted to draw Liu Yinfeng into their side, so they didn't poison him with the fluffy snow lotus, but took him away directly."
Yun Shang nodded and relieved a little. She told herself, 'Good, then. Now that we want to make use of Liu Yinfeng, we don't need to worry about his life.'
Qin Yi stood aside, listening to the conversation between they two. She observed the expression on Yun Shang's face carefully. After a while, Qin Yi asked in a low voice, "I don't know what the seventh prince and his majesty are talking about. What about asking someone to inquire Wang Wanzhi about it?"
Yun Shang thought for a while and shook her head, "It's not the time to contact her yet. Being around the Emperor is as dangerous as accompanying a tiger. We'd better keep a distance from Wang Wanzhi so that she will be safer. As for the seventh prince... " Yun Shang said with a sneer, "I don't care much about what he is saying to the emperor. After all, he has been hiding himself for more than ten years. It's impossible for him to abruptly show his strength to the full."
Qin Yi didn't quite understand what Yun Shang was talking about, but she just nodded and didn't say anything more.
There was a long silence in the room. Then Yun Shang took out the account book of the mansion and read it.
"Your highness, his majesty is calling," the housekeeper's voice came from outside.
Yun Shang was surprised. She looked up and exchanged a glance with Luo Qingyan. Then she asked with doubt, "Xia Huanyu? Why did he call me into the palace?"
Some thoughts flashed through Luo Qingyan's mind. He pondered for a moment before he said, "I'm afraid it's related to the matter of poisoning. It doesn't matter. You just need to remember to stay calm. Don't talk too much. If he asks something that you don't know how to respond, just say that you don't know it."
Yun Shang nodded slightly and asked Qin Yi to find a slightly more grand-looking butterfly flowered brocade dress to put on, and outside she wore a satin fox fur pleated cloak. Then she had her hair combed into a Lingxu Bun with a long jasper edged flower hairpin. Everything getting ready, Yun Shang stood up and left the mansion with Qin Yi.
Xia Huanyu summoned Yun Shang in the rear Hall of Taiji Palace. When she entered the rear Hall, she saw Xia Huanyu sitting on the chair, with a set of chess in front of him. And Liu Wenan was standing quietly beside him.
Seeing Yun Shang come in, Liu Wenan coughed lightly and said, "Your majesty, Lady Rui is here."
Yun Shang flashed a slight smile, and curtsied to Xia Huanyu, "Your Majesty, Long live your majesty." Xia Huanyu raised his eyes from the chessboard and glanced at Yun Shang. He said indifferently, "Since we are here, let's play chess first."
Yun Shang responded hastily and sat down opposite to him. The chess game was a mess. Yun Shang looked at the chessboard and frowned. It was very clear from the situation on the chessboard that the black stones Xia Huanyu held were already a very obvious victory. However, though the white stones seemed to be defeated miserably, but they had hidden quite a few killing tricks, which were very vicious.
Yun Shang thought for a while and remembered her guard's report that the seventh prince had asked to see the emperor in the palace. She estimated that she was summoned to the imperial palace as soon as the seventh prince left. It was obvious to know from this mess chess who had been behind this game.
Yun Shang smiled. She picked up a white stone from the basket, and said politely, "I made a fortune. I won this round. But, your majesty, don't blame me for my cruelty. It's not a good chance for the white stones. I just took advantage of the situation."
"You win?" raising his eyes to look at Yun Shang, Xia Huanyu asked, "Do you think you can win?"
Yun Shang didn't argue with him. She put down a stone on the board with a smile on her face. In an instant, the pale side of the white stones came to life and even ruthlessly cut off Xia Huanyu's route of retreat.
Xia Huanyu's eyes darkened.
Time passed quickly. In just an hour, Yun Shang won the game in a flash.
Yun Shang smiled and figured out how many stones she won on the chessboard. She looked up at the emperor and said, "I was just helped by the previous game. In that game, the white side seemed to lose, and the black side was about to win. But there is an old saying that onlooker is clear. Your majesty has been in the bureau, and I was just a bystander when I first came here. So after careful consideration, I found that the white stones had winning points in three hidden positions. Though they looked declining, they were actually attacking the opponent's weakness, which was really ruthless.
Thus, I won three and a half stone." Yun Shang smiled. Then she added, "In the previous game, the person who held the black stones knew how to hide."
Yun Shang stopped at the point with a smile. Then she picked up the white stones and put them back into the basket.
After a long while, Xia Huanyu finally smiled and said, "To hide, ha..." Then he fixed his eyes on Yun Shang.
Yun Shang acted as if nothing had happened. She put all the chess pieces away, sat up straight and asked softly, "Your Majesty, what do you want me to do?"
Xia Huanyu was not in a hurry to answer her question. He put away the chess pieces slowly and then said, "It was a mess game just now. Let's play this game together."
