"Okay, wait for me then. I'll come get you at the airport."
After hanging up the call, the anxiety in my heart seemed to be comforted by a sense of warmth.
Kevin's arrival had given me great courage and hope. I knew well that one additional comrade would mean a higher chance of victory in this complicated situation.
I packed up the necessities quickly to make sure that I did not miss out on any clues or evidence that could benefit me.
I may still feel slightly uneasy, but my heart was filled with even more determination and conviction to face the upcoming trials.
While I drove to the airport, I thought about all sorts of possible scenarios that could happen. I also thought about how I could maximize Kevin's help and protect myself at the same time so I wouldn't fall into the enemy's traps once more.
The airport was bustling with people. I waited anxiously for Kevin to appear.
Finally, in the chaos of the airport crowd, I saw his familiar and kind face.
He held a luggage in his hand as he walked toward me with a smile on his face. At that moment, it was almost like I had seen my savior.
"Are you okay, Eve?" Kevin asked with concern the moment he saw me.
I nodded my head and forced a smile. "I'm fine, I just got entangled in some trouble. Thank you for coming all the way to lend me a hand."
Kevin patted my shoulders as his eyes overflowed with encouragement.
"No need for that between us. Let's go, let's get out of here and talk in more detail when we reach somewhere safe."
We drove to a more secluded hotel and in a hotel room, I told Kevin in detail about what I was facing and the Grayson family's complicated background.
He frowned after hearing it but his eyes held a firm determination.
