I nodded. I already had some considerations in my heart. No matter if Mr. Johnson was willing to talk or not, I had to give it a try.
On the second day, I drove to the villa on the outskirts alone.
While I was on my way there, my emotions were a mess. I had both the anxiousness of not knowing its outcome and the eagerness to unveil the truth.
When I stood before the vintage-looking door, I took a deep breath and pressed the doorbell.
The door slowly opened and a kind-looking old man appeared before me. His eyes seemed like the kind that had seen many things in life.
I introduced myself courteously and told him what I was there for.
"Oh, you're here to look for Mr. Johnson! Unfortunately, he has gone out on vacation these two days. If you're in a rush, you can look for him at the holiday resort."
This old man had been Mr. Johnson's butler for many years. He gave me an address. After much consideration, I have decided to make my way to the resort.
The resort was located amid mountains, far from the hustle and bustle of the city, and is like it was in another world on its own.
As I drove there, I looked out the window to enjoy the scenic view, but it was very hard for my heart to be calm.
Every time I was one step closer to finding a bit of the truth, it would make me excited and nervous like I was standing at the edge of a cliff—one step forward and it would be the point of no return.
When I arrived at the resort, I followed the butler's address and found the villa that Mr. Johnson was staying at.
It was an even more serene environment. This villa was surrounded by trees in the woods, and I could hear occasional birds chirping, signifying the presence of life here.
As I knocked on the door gently, an elegant middle-aged man dressed in traditional clothing answered the door.
