James weighed his options. He believed that telling Xavi the secret of the Moonlit Flowers on Cliffside’s Edge and the martial arts recorded within in exchange for the Lee family’s fortune was a great deal.
He was unconcerned that Xavi would cultivate the martial arts recorded within the Moonlit Flowers on Cliffside’s Edge since they demanded great True Energy. Besides, it required a man and a woman and both True Yin and Yang Energy to cultivate.
Xavi smiled bitterly and said, “James, do you have any idea how much fortune the Lee family has amassed over the past century? I’m only demanding you to return what’s mine and to tell me the secret of the Four Ancient Paintings. Surely this isn’t too demanding?”
“Not at all…” James continued, “But since I don’t have the painting with me, there’s nothing I can do.”
Hearing this, Xavi fell silent.
The atmosphere became tense.
James remained silent as well and waited for Xavi to speak his mind.
After a while, Xavi said, “How about this? I don’t need you to return my painting. Find Thomas and ask him to allow me to view the Four Ancient Paintings for three days. What do you think?”
Xavi made a compromise.
The paintings did not matter. What mattered were the ancient martial arts recorded in them. In just three days, he could imitate everything. That way, he could peacefully live in seclusion and only reappear after a few decades had passed. When that day came, there would be no one else left to stand in his way.
“James, this is where I draw my line. If you can’t gather all four paintings, please return.”
Xavi pointed at the door. Then, he stood up and turned to leave.
Yasmine looked at James apologetically and said, “James, these are the demands of the Grand Patriarch. Reconsider them carefully. Bring the Four Ancient Paintings here the next time you come.”
After saying that, she turned to leave.
James shrugged and said, “Let’s return for now.”
The three left the Lees’ residence.
