James had no idea what the custodian was trying to do.
Still, he stood up and obediently followed her.
The custodian stepped into the air, walking at a slow pace because she was afraid James could not keep up with her.
James resolutely followed behind her.
After passing through many collapsed mountains and dried-up rivers, James saw a glow before him. As they got closer, the glow intensified, and James recognized it was flames that he saw.
The mountain range was encircled by an inferno, which burned with an eerie, white flame. The sight was slightly unsettling.
The custodian stopped outside the mountain range that was surrounded by flames. James also halted in his tracks.
Although they were standing far from the inferno, James could feel the burning heat, and drops of sweat kept forming on his forehead.
He was shocked because no ordinary flames had an effect on him at his rank.
“What is this place?” asked James.
The custodian replied, “This is the Flame Energy of a particularly strong person which he left behind from ancient times. Even after so many years, his Flame Energy burns ever so brightly. I brought you here to use the flames to refine your True Energy.”
“From ancient times?” James was shocked.
How powerful did this ancestor have to be to leave behind these roaring flames that were still burning long after his death?
“Will this burn me to death, Miss?”
He feared the heat would be worse since he could already feel it from afar.
The custodian gently waved her hand and said, “You’ll be fine. You have a strong body. Although the flames are intense, they cannot destroy your body. At most, you’re going to feel a little bit of pain. After you enter the flames, don’t try to resist them. Instead, allow the flames to enter your body first before you activate your True Energy to fight it. It’ll allow your True Energy to improve.”
After learning he would not be burned to death, James sighed in relief.
James was prepared to risk it all to acquire the Celestial Abode and become stronger.
He strode forward and felt the scorching heat as he got closer. Before he stepped into the flames, he felt like he was inside a sauna, and his whole body was drenched in sweat.
However, the heat was still tolerable.
He continued advancing into the flames.
When he walked into the flames, the sweat on his body began to evaporate, and his skin began to scald. James felt excruciating pain all over his body.
