James sighed.
Though this was only just the beginning, the seriousness of the situation made him fearful of what might occur next.
The night passed silently.
The next day, James stood at the gates of Wyrmstead Palace.
Black rain was still pouring from the sky as puddles of murky water dotted the ground. James could vaguely see a black aura materializing from the water, which soared to the sky and simply lingered there.
Silence filled the air.
Standing by the gates, James stared at the puddles on the ground and the dark clouds on the horizon. He could clearly sense the black aura resonating with his body.
His pores absorbed the dark aura lingering in the air as his physical strength slowly increased.
He knew this was providence to him. However, this was deadly to humans. Not everyone possessed a demonic body like him that could increase its strength by absorbing anything.
“A penny for your thoughts, Darling?”
Thea walked over to him and stood by his side.
James looked at the rainwater and the plants that were corroded in the distance, whispering, “What’s the way forward for humans? Why is this happening? Could there be someone behind this?”
James had many questions on his mind. However, no one could provide him with any answers.
Clack! Clack! Clack!
At that moment, the sound of footsteps could be heard.
James turned his head to see a man approaching from a distance away. The man was wearing a black overcoat and a straw hat that shielded his body from the corrosive rainwater.
