Salute to the General novel Chapter 2663

Soon, Garrett was well-dressed and seated on a chair under a big tree in the middle of the courtyard.

There were quite a few National Guards standing alongside him. Further away were several armed royal guards.

Nathan approached him and smiled bitterly. “President Woods, why are you putting yourself on the line wittingly?”

By then, Garrett was so feeble that he could not even straighten his body. He put on a self-deprecating smile as he uttered breathlessly, “I've been dealing with desk jobs all this while. In actuality, I'm envious of you and all the other military commanders battling against the enemies on the battlefield. Now that I'm on the brink of death, I have nothing to fear. Since I have the opportunity to witness how you'll wipe out Erwin Holmes and Will Long's rebel troops today, I'll at least get to know how it feels fighting against the enemies on the battlefield. In other words, I'll be able to fulfill my dream.”

He paused and mustered up his strength to sit straight. “Chief Cross, what do you think? Do I look nonchalant at the moment?"

Nathan gazed at him and responded earnestly, “President Woods, you look incredibly nonchalant!”

Hearing that, Garrett's originally dull-looking eyes lit up with a glint of life. Surprisingly, there was even a hint of rosiness on his pale cheeks.

Over the moon, he stated eagerly, “I'll sit here to witness how you defeat the rebel troops. Go ahead!”

“Got it, President Woods!” Nathan nodded solemnly and turned to walk away.

Colin, the Elite Eight, and the Felidae Battalion followed behind him at once.

There were three thousand royal guards and one thousand bodyguards catering to the President's safety in the White House. Other than that, there was a reinforced combat battalion standing guard discreetly not far from the White House.

This battalion had been specially set up to protect the President. It was known as the Taurus Battalion and comprised approximately one thousand people. On top of that, it was equipped with the most advanced equipment, and the members were top-notch fighters with ultimate combat skills.

Haven Nickson, the commander of the Taurus Battalion, took swift action when he was alerted about Xavion and Titus leading a total of twenty thousand rebels to launch an attack on the White House. He reached the White House within a short time with the Taurus Battalion.

When Nathan stepped into the front yard of the White House, Haven was already waiting for his arrival there. Jaxton Zaiser, the commander of the royal guards, and Holton Wynne, the leader of the bodyguards at the White House, were standing alongside him too.

“Good day, Chief Cross!” Haven and the others saluted Nathan with the utmost respect.

The latter waved at them casually. “Everyone, no need for formality! I believe you've heard about Erwin Holmes and Will Long rebelling against the President. At the moment, the whole city is surrounded by their rebel troops. More of their men are heading toward us now, so we might have to fight alongside each other against our foes very soon!”
