Blackbeard looked livid. “Why, you! Are you here to negotiate or pick a fight?”
As soon as he threw that question, his men turned to glare at Nathan, all of them radiating a murderous aura.
They seemed ready to rip Nathan and Ava to shreds if the negotiation fell through.
Nonetheless, Nathan looked as calm as ever despite facing countless bloodthirsty pirates. He said nonchalantly, “I came to this piece of crap island because of Professor Salce, of course. If you want to talk, I'll sit and have a chat with you. But if you don't, that's fine with me too.”
Blackbeard glared at Nathan when he heard that, and the expression on his face kept shifting.
This representative sent by the five families really doesn't do things by the book.
Nonetheless, the only thing pirates like him cared about was money. In the end, his rationality suppressed his rage, and he slowly calmed down.
When the angry look on his face faded, he finally said with a grin, “Hah! I wondered why they would send someone as young as you to negotiate with me. Now, it appears that you're no ignorant young lad. You're right. The purpose of our meeting today is to discuss my reward. This way, please. Let's go inside and talk.”
Seeing Blackbeard back down, Nathan responded calmly, “Sure. Please lead the way.”
Thus, Blackbeard and his lackeys led Nathan into their pirates' stronghold, which resembled a military base.
Stationed throughout the route they took were armed sentries, so to say that the place was heavily guarded was not an exaggeration.
It's easy to see that Blackbeard is very particular about his safety.
Blackbeard and his men gathered around Nathan like a moth to a flame. The former introduced the surroundings of the place he called home to the latter as they walked. Smiling, Blackbeard said, “This is where I live. Our base is about three kilometers from here, and that's the location of our main headquarters. My ships and weapons are there, and most of my men stay there. I'll take you over and show you around later if we have time.”
Nathan smiled. “Sure!
Soon, Blackbeard led Nathan into a grand house and entered an opulent living room.
After they had taken their seats, a servant served them coffee and tea.
Ava stood behind Nathan respectfully, staying close to him like a shadow.
A large number of Blackboard s lackeys also stood behind him. On top of that, outside the house were many fully armed men.
