All of the subordinates around Blackbeard glared at Nathan and secretly put their hands on the gun or saber around their waists.
At that moment, the atmosphere began to grow tense.
Even Ava, who looked indifferent, tensed up and prepared herself to fight.
On the other hand, Nathan remained calm while sitting in the chair.
He flicked the ashes of the cigarette in his hand, calmly faced Blackbeard's questioning, and said with a chuckle, “Does this even need an explanation? Obviously, they're fake!”
Hearing that, Blackbeard was stunned.
He frowned and fixed his gaze on Nathan, trying to find the slightest flaw in Nathan's expression.
However, Nathan was so calm, and his eyes were so confident and clear that it did not look like he was lying at all.
Blackbeard hesitated.
Is the guy called Maxwell outside the fake one?
Blackbeard stared at Nathan coldly and said suspiciously, “Mr. Cross, you know what I do for a living. If you're not the representative sent by the five families, I assure you that you will suffer a horrible fate.”
Nathan smiled. “It seems that you still don't believe me. Let's call the guy called Maxwell in, and I'll confront him to clear things up.”
In truth, Blackbeard had intended to do that too, but he did not expect Nathan to be the first one to make such a suggestion.
He started to think that Nathan was probably telling the truth.
Blackbeard nodded, and his tone softened a little. “Okay, I'll call Maxwell and his gang in. This is my territory. Whoever dares to impersonate the representative of the five families to fool me, I will not let him off easily. However, if I find out later that I've wrongly accused you, I will apologize to you personally.”
Nathan smiled. “Sure!”
Blackbeard turned to Water Devil and ordered, “Bring Maxwell and his people in.”
Water Devil replied in a deep voice, “Yes, Captain.”
Soon, Water Devil left with a few subordinates.
