As Pallav and Akuma battled each other, their clashing swords let out a series of clanging each time they parried. They fought as persistently as eagles after their prey.
Pallav's fighting style was a standard, no-nonsense style commonly practiced in the military. He wasted no movements and had no flourishes. Each thrust of his sword carried the magnitude of thunder.
On the other hand, Akuma also used a standard style, but he incorporated some techniques from the warrior's way.
When fighting, he often angled his sword and launched attacks from the trickiest angles, making it hard to defend against.
In the blink of an eye, the two had fought for dozens of rounds.
There were more than a dozen shallow knife wounds on Pallav's body, and his whole body was stained with blood.
In the meantime, Akuma had three cuts on his body, one of which was very deep.
The deep one had cut into his chest, revealing his bones.
Akuma's chest was stained with rivulets of blood.
Pallav put some distance between himself and Akuma. He then sneered and said, “Akuma, I've already discovered your strengths. You've slaughtered many of my comrades and committed many evil deeds. Today, I'll personally send you to the gates of hell.”
Although Akuma did not sustain as many injuries as Pallav did, the former still had more grievous wounds. If anything, this was a source of embarrassment to Akuma.
However, he merely smiled icily at Pallav and retorted, “Oh, how wrong you are. You're the one who will perish today. Not me.”
Just as Pallav was about to reply, he suddenly felt as if he had gone into a trancelike state which made him feel dizzy.
Pallav was taken aback by this. He quickly shook his head vigorously to lessen the effects of what he was seeing.
At the same time, he was equally startled and angry, unable to make sense of the situation.
Akuma smiled viciously as he watched this scene unfold before him. “What's the matter? Are you feeling a little dizzy? Well, it just means that your end is near!”
Sensing that something was amiss, Pallav looked at Akuma's katana which seemed to emit a faint blue hue. He suddenly returned to his senses and hissed, “You shameless little sh*t! Did you poison your blade?”
Akuma smirked in response. “Dear me, have you forgotten that I am also a trained assassin? Isn't this normal for assassins to use poison? You only have yourself to blame for not doing your homework. You should have researched your enemies thoroughly! Well, I guess you'll be more careful in your next lifetime!”
After he spoke, Akuma's figure suddenly dissipated into a shadow form that went charging at Pallav at full speed. The katana in his hands unleashed gusts of wind as he launched a wild attack on Pallav.
Akuma vowed to kill Pallav with a single blow.
