If it were someone else who spoke those outrageous words, Milo would have ordered his subordinates to restrain them right away.
However, the man before them was Nathan.
Milo dared not do that. He could only regard Nathan with wariness.
In the end, he uttered, “Mr. Cross, things will not be as simple as you think if you insist on visiting the Curia and meeting our pope in a private capacity, not unless you can advance past the hurdles guarded by the Curia's elites. If you successfully pass the three hurdles we've set up, you can meet our pope.”
A chuckle escaped Nathan's lips when he heard the condition. “Not even thirty hurdles will pose a challenge to me, let alone three.”
He's insane! He's such an arrogant man!
Milo glared at Nathan. “Don't be too sure of yourself, Mr. Cross. Those who think too highly of themselves tend to meet a bad end. I'll repeat myself. If you pass the three hurdles, you'll get to meet our pope for a discussion. If you can't, you won't be able to meet him, and you can stop dreaming of having us change our future Holy Maiden. Just accept reality and go home.”
Nathan's tone was callous as he answered, “Are you done with your nonsense yet? If you are, let's begin.”
At that, Milo trembled with rage. “You—” he snarled but soon choked with fury.
He then stared at the stately Nathan for a while before gritting out, “Fine. It officially starts now. The first hurdle is these fifty thousand Holy Knights before you. If you can get past them and enter the Curia's headquarters, you'll pass the first hurdle.”
With that, Nathan looked past the Holy Army to glance at the entrance of the Curia a distance away.
To reach that place, he must get past the Holy Army.
Milo sneered. “Don't worry, Mr. Cross. These Holy Knights will only stop you; they won't kill you. However, if you can't get past this human barricade, then turn and leave. Don't embarrass yourself further.”
Before Nathan could say anything in response, Colin, who was behind him, bellowed, “You're winning in nothing but numbers.”
He then hollered, “Elite Eight!”
Elite Eight instantly responded in unison, “Here, sir!”
In an even louder voice, Colin ordered, “Open up a path for Mr. Cross!”
“Yes, sir!”
With that, the eight people stepped forward simultaneously.
